How Syrian refugees are adjusting to their new lives in Toronto
A special report that investigates how life has changed for Syrian refugees who have moved to Toronto. It covers the stories of up to five different families.
This is a project I took part in with fellow Toronto Observer colleagues. My contribution focuses on Christ Ketenjian (pictured on the left with his mother, Jeny) and his family’s journey to get here, how their life is now, as well as their future plans.

Syrian newcomers express themselves through art
Ousama Alkhatib (pictured on the right), Musa Talluzi, Ghina Abdulwahed, and Reem Alhaj are four Syrian newcomers who had their art displayed at the Syrian Night: Our Art, Our Stories event at Daniels Spectrum last April.
The stories behind each of their paintings are inspiring.

Top sensory technologies that are evolving in Toronto
A multi-media package showcasing the four sensory technologies that were displayed at the Redwood last November. Web-Moti, LUCID, Sensory Stimulations, and IGLOO.
This piece expands on these technologies and explains future plans from the experts themselves. It includes photos of each technology and a video showing how they work.

Students, staff, parents come together for Gledhill Junior student battling leukemia
When a 10-year old girl in East York, Hailey Conroy, is diagnosed with leukemia, her classmates and teachers help her battle by selling paper hearts to other students (Hearts for Hailey) at Gledhill Junior Public School, to help pay her medical bills. This story shows the whole community come together to help a fellow student.
Listen to the audio clip below of the voicer that covers the Hearts for Hailey event (done outside of Toronto Observer):
